  • DASRA  is a leading Indian philanthropy foundation working with philanthropises and social entrepreneurs to create large scale social change. One such social entrepreneur is Simpa Networks , an organization that has introduced a product and business model that makes sustainable energy choices “radially afforable to the 1.6 billion Base of the Pyramid (BoP) consumers who currently lack access to electricity. 
  • The Himalayan Light Foundation (HLF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) working in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal and the South Asia Region. HLF’s main objective is to improve the quality of life of the remote population of the Himalayan and South Asia region via the introduction and use of environmentally friendly renewable energy technologies (RETs).   • The Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit whose mission is to design and implement solar energy solutions to assist those living in energy poverty with their economic, educational, health care and agricultural development. Since 1990, SELF has completed projects in more than 20 countries and pioneered unique applications of solar power for drip irrigation in Benin, health care in Haiti, telemedicine in the Amazon rainforest, online learning in South Africa, and microenterprise development in Nigeria.   • the Solar Energy Foundation (Stiftung Solarenergie) is a foundation working for rural development and poverty alleviation by providing solar energy in rural and marginalized areas worldwide. They go to people who do not have access to clean, reliable and sustainable energy. They stay with these people to accompany their social and economic growth, and they work together with rural communities for development and prosperity in rural areas.

They provide policy recommendations to advance renewable energy—particularly in major emerging economies like India and South Africa. They foster collaboration amongst a diverse group of energy stakeholders, including regulators, utilities, businesses, governments, and civil society.
  • Dwaal raises money for a fund that supports volunteer trips for Dwaal employees. You can help to fund a research trip by donating here. All donations are used to send a Dwaal employee on a trip to volunteer time and services to help implement energy efficient lighting in communities that need it. It also provides a first-hand experience working with communities that need lighting.
