Unlocking the potential of NYC’s public spaces
PROJECT UPDATE: OPENING THE EDGE PHASE II
Residents’ vision to transform fenced-in green spaces at NYCHA Lillian Wald Houses, on the Lower East Side, receives $680,000 in capital funding for prototype installation, proposed by artist Jane Greengold
Our awesome news of the week, the month, the year is that Speaker Corey Johnson and City Council Member Carlina Rivera allocated $680,000 in the FY20 City Capital Budget for the Opening the Edge prototype installation at the NYCHA Lillian Wald Houses — a project proposed by artist Jane Greengold and in partnership with New York City Housing Authority.

We are truly grateful to everyone who has helped us on this groundbreaking project, including Design Trust Board, staff and Fellows, and especially to our elected officials, Speaker Johnson and Council Member Rivera, and their staffs for this tremendous investment in our unprecedented effort with and for the NYCHA Lillian Wald residents.
